Personal Safety and Awareness Course

Transition year students had to opportunity to take part in a personal safety course. This was an extremely valuable course to us.

Throughout the day we gained a greater knowledge and understanding of communication, positive assertiveness and student wellbeing.

We were encouraged to become aware and responsible for our own personal safety through activities, talks and group work. By respecting, listening and appreciating each other’s ideas and opinions we collectively understood the importance of personal safety to our daily lives.

We learned to recognise and evaluate a range of situations and assess our own position within those situations. We were taught methods and skills to protect ourselves and promote our personal awareness.

The Personal Safety and Awareness course was an invaluable aspect of the transition year programme which will be to us throughout our life
