Transition year

Transition Year is a one year school based programme between Junior and Senior Cycle.

It is designed to act as a bridge between the two by facilitating the smooth transition from the more dependent learning of the Junior Cycle to the more independent self-directed learning required for the Senior Cycle.

Why you should do Transition Year:

  • You’re learning through a different manner without serious study.
  • You get the opportunity to work together, as a team and bond as a group.
  • You get a taste of the subjects that are available in the Leaving Cert course.
  • You use your own initiative by planning and organising all events in transition year, such as calling the company, organising a bus, collecting money, etc.
  • You gain a range of skills such as communication, confidence and planning skills.
  • Through this year, T.Y students also learn great independence skills and build themselves as people.
